Did you know?
A Houston heat-safety game
The power's out and it's 103° outside. Walk to the cooling center at the library before you overheat.
Heavy sweating. Cold, clammy skin. Dizzy, headache, nauseous, weak.
Get somewhere cool, loosen clothes, sip water.
Body temp 103°F or higher. Hot, red skin. Confused, slurring, or passing out.
Call 911. Cool them down fast. No drinks.
The name comes from 103°: the heat index where the National Weather Service calls heat dangerous, and the body temperature where heat stroke starts.
Hot skin, confused, passing out
Sweaty, dizzy, nauseous, still alert
